PAIH and PolishHub join the biggest business organizations in Silicon Valley
PAIH Foreign Trade Office (called the PolishHub) in San Francisco has begun its cooperation with the leading business institutions of the Silicon Valley. Among the latest partners of the PolishHub there are: the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, which gathers 2,000 members as well as the global investment community of business angiels called the Keiretsu Forum.

Specialized in supporting high-tech companies, the PolishHub in San Francisco, has come into cooperation with the most influential innovators and business institutions of Silicon Valley.

Just at the very beginning of its activity, in April 2017, the PolishHub opened doors of the famous San Francisco co-work - the Rocket Space - to Polish innovators. “The interest of the co-working space is so high among  tech Polish companies, that we are overbooked until the end of this year”, says head of the PolishHub, Maja Kieturakis.

The PolishHub is also participating in the organization of events promoting Polish technologies. It has co-organized three PLUG series - Polish Tech Link, where tech Polish companies in USA and potential investors meet. The PAIH office in San Francisco has also initiated the project CEconnection, that promotes Central Europe in the Valley.

The activity of PAIH’s Foreign Trade Office has been spotted by the influential business communities of the Silicon Valley. The Office has established cooperation with Bay Angels, Sand Hills Angels, One Traction and Brand of Angels.

In August 2017, the Kairetsu Forum opened its doors of partnership and joint ventures to the the PolishHub. “It is actually a very elite group, as joining the Keiretsu is possible only after obtaining a recommendation and invitation from its members”, explains Maja Kieturakis. (PAIH)

There are new projects in The Warmia and Mazury Special Economic Zone
Meble Wójcik, DFM and Heinz Glas Działdowo received permits for conducting business activity in the WMSSE. As a result, at least 185 people will find employment. The total value of those three investment will reach PLN 187m.

For DFM, it is the fourth business permit in WMSSE. Established in 2001, the company is specialized in the production of upholstered furniture, which is exported to EU countries. The new investment is worth at least PLN 50 m and will bring over 15 new jobs in the DFM.  As part of the new project, the company will start its production of wooden racks and furniture seats, develop a modern sawmill and purchase specialized machinery and equipment. All of this in order to increase the production of upholstered furniture.

Heinz Glas Działdowo

Another business permit also goes to the furniture business player. This is Meble Wójcik, that has been granted the eighth permit from the W-M zone. The investment is the common join-venture of three companies Wójcik Fabryka Meble, Fabryka Mebli Stolpłyt and Żuławska Fabryka Mebli. Meble Wójcik, is a manufacturer that exports to Great Britain, Germany, Slovakia and other countries. Due to the project worth PLN 50 m, a warehouse and production-logistic hall will be built. It is also planned to expand the company’s IT system and furnish halls in automated and innovative furniture. The company has committed itself to increase its current employment by at least 120 people.

The third new investor with a business permit is Heinz Glas Działdowo, whose tradition of glass production dates back to 1622. The company will invest PLN 87 m in the Zone and employ at least 50 new people. This one of the world’s leaders in the production and refining of glass bottles and closures used in perfumery and cosmetics industry, is expanding its existing plant. The investment project will lead to the increase of its production capacity by more than 85%. (The Warmia and Mazury Special Economic Zone)

PLN 1.5 bn to be invested in the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone
PDH Polska, which is owned by Grupa Azoty Police and Grupa Azoty, has been granted the permission to operate in the PSSE Police sub-zone. PDH Polska had been created with the aim of realizing an investment, which after the final stage will give employment to about 200 people.

As a result of one of the biggest investments in the Polish industry, in Police, on an area of 50 hectares, a plant producing propylene will be built. Polypropylene production is also considered. Both products are currently imported to Poland.

Within the investment in PSSE, PDH Polska can obtain up to PLN 428 million of state aid. (PSEZ)


Doing Business in Germany: Opportunities Through Innovation
Polish Investments & Trade Agency and German Trade & Invest invite you to a workshop dedicated to the opportunities of investment expansion for Polish companies to Germany. The Doing Business in Germany will take place on September 12 at the Polish Investments & Trade Agency (Bagatela 12) at 10 AM (registration from 9:30 AM).

PAIH President Tomasz Pisula and German Ambassador in Poland Rolf Nikel will be hosts of the event. The seminar will cover issues related to running business and business opportunities in Germany, as well as the support offered by the German government to foreign investors.

The experts will also describe the financial and legal issues of business activity in the country. Speakers of the EU National Focal Point will discuss the financial aspect of Horizon 2020.  PAIH, BGK TFI  and PKO Bank Polski experts will also be offering support and funding for foreign expansion. On 12 September, in The Heart Warsaw in Warsaw, R&D Summit will be held. An event which brings together R&D leaders from Poland and from all over the world.

12 Congress of Industry and Automotive Market
Polish Investment and Trade Agency invites you to the 12th Congress of Industry and Automotive Market, which is under its honorary patronage. The event, that will offer merits-related knowledge and industry insights, will be held on 8-9 November at the Sound Garden Hotel in Warsaw.

The expected number of participants is about 600 people: biggest players in the automotive parts market, as well as representatives of government and state institutions.

The 20th International Workshop on Business Incubation in Shanghai
The 20th International Workshop on Business Incubation (IBI) will be held as a  training course, which  will last for 6 days, from 23rd Oct. to 28th Oct, 2017.

25th International Defence Industry, Exhibition MSPO
For 25 years the world's defence industry has demonstrated the ever-growing interest in Poland's International Defence Industry Exhibition. The upcoming, jubilee MSPO is held from 5 to 8 September 2017 in Targi Kielce. The event is embraced with Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland.

Following many-year traditions, in the first days of September Kielce becomes the world's defence centre of attention. Gliwice  focuses on engineering of building materials
In Gliwice city hall, on 24 August 2017, an agreement on the founding of a Polish-German Centre of Lightweight Hybrid Construction was signed. The Centre will  develop advanced innovative materials mostly for automotive and aviation industries.

The Centre of Lightweight Hybrid Construction will focused on providing studies on new materials, as well as designing new systems striving to reduce the weight of structures, while increasing their strength. Lightweight hybrids materials are the most suited to these requirements, therefore are most commonly used in the automotive and aerospace industry.

Signing a letter of intent between Polish and German partners

In the Polish-German initiative are combined the efforts of: The Silesian University of Technology, the City of Gliwice, the Katowice Special Economic Zone and the Federation of Air Companies "Bielsko", on  the German side there are: the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg and the Institut für Leichtbau und Kunststofftechnik of the Technical University in Dresden.

Gliwice is said to be one of the most important cities for the Polish industry, where the largest sub-zone of the Katowice Special Economic Zone has been located. It is also the place where Opel’s factory was launched 20 years ago. (KSEZ)
