Suwałki SEZSpecial Economic Zone Suwałki

The Suwałki Special Economic Zone was established in 1996, and is situated in north-eastern Poland, in the geographical center of Europe. The main European communication and transport routes intersect here, leading from the north to the south and from the east to the west of Europe. The important transit routes, e.g. Berlin - Warsaw - Grodno - Saint Petersburg, Warsaw - Tallinn (part of Via Baltica), or a section of the Via Carpatia all pass through the zone. The Rail Baltica - a railway route that is part of the trans-European transport corridor also runs through the zone. The Suwałki Special Economic Zone covers all the Poviats of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, 2 Poviats of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship: Ełcki and Gołdap, and 4 Poviats of the Masovian Voivodeship: Łosicki, Ostrów, Sokołów and Węgrów. The area of the Zone covers 26,414 km² (2,641,400 ha).

Advantages and successes of the Suwałki SEZ:
  • a perfect location - due to, among other things, the developing transport infrastructure and the borders with Russia, Lithuania and Belarus - this is an area that is becoming more and more popular among investors,
  • the leading industries in the Suwałki Special Economic Zone are: timber, metal, plastics and furniture. The representatives of which, are valued producers on world markets,
  • the region located within the Zone is characterized by an unpolluted natural environment, which has influences the development of the food industry in the Zone, and the picturesque nature of the lake district has been favorable for the boatbuilding industry,
  • the zone has a wide selection of investment plots, of various sizes and its management company provides advice on Government support,
  • proposed investment areas are situated in modern industrial districts of cities and communes in north-eastern Poland and have to a large extent the necessary technical infrastructure.

  • The total amount of capital expenditure incurred by all companies operating in the Zone, since its inception until now: approx. PLN 4,500 billion
  • The total employment in the Zone: over 13,000 jobs created
