29 April 2005
The Volvo Group commenced its industrial operations in Wrocław 10 years ago. At present, the capital of Lower Silesia is the seat of the most modern and the largest Volvo bus factory in Europe and the world production centre of backhoe-loaders.

Seat of Volvo in Wrocław

„The factory is the most import plant in Europe for us”, claimed Roberto Teixeira, the President of Volvo Poland Industrial Centre. The factory operates and develops in accordance with the key values of the Volvo Group, that is quality, safety and environment protection.

Production of Volvo buses
Volvo vehicles manufactured in Wrocław were of high quality, the employees had high qualifications, the cooperation with local authorities developed smoothly and costs were kept at a low level. The Volvo Group – encouraged by that experience – decided to open a bus production centre for Central and Western Europe in Wrocław in 1998. The amount of USD 50 million was invested resulting in the expansion of the plant by 40,000 m2.

“The decision to concentrate the production operations in Poland is fully in line with Volvo strategy, whose main target is to increase industrial effectiveness and strengthen the position of Volvo in this part of Europe,” said then the President of Volvo AB, Leif Johansson.

The Wrocław factory is Volvo’s largest European plant manufacturing buses. The factory produces also compact construction equipment, Volvo backhoe-loaders. It is the only plant of Volvo Construction Equipment which manufactures these machines. From Wrocław they are sold to customers all over the world.
