European Funds – new opportunities for the investors

European Funds and the greatest challenges for investment were the subject of Tuesday’s conference of the Ministry for Regional Development “Poland in the European Union – new possibilities for foreign investors”, organised together with PAIiIZ and the Ministry of the Economy.

Among the speakers invited there were  Mr. Jerzy Kwieciński, Deputy Secretary of State in the Ministry for Regional Development, Mr. Paweł Wojciechowski the President of PAIiIZ and Mrs. Anna Kacprzyk, Director of the Department for European Funds in the Ministry of the Economy.

The representatives of the Ministry for Regional Development, advised those present of the availability of EU funds in Poland. - In the immediate financial outlook, between 2007 and 2013, we will be the largest beneficiaries of the EU – every fifth Euro will be spent in Poland – said Mr. Jerzy Kwiecinski, - In total we will have at our disposal 120 billion EUR, assigned exclusively for post development activities. This sum will be an enormous boost for our country – added the Minister.

Mr. Jerzy Kwieciński presents the availability of EU funds in Poland

The PAIiIZ President, presented the activities of the Agency in the sphere of the The Operational Program for Economic Innovation (POIG). The Agency will support projects that have a key role in the economy – i.e. in the sectors of manufacturing and services. These sectors will receive the greatest level of support from EU funds in the opinion of POIG – Poland in incentives to foreign investors, will allocate at least one billion EUR from EU funds. PAIiIZ will concern itself with its distribution. For investments in the manufacturing sector there have been reserved 522 million EUR, for support of modern services 450 million EUR. The condition is however, the worth of the investment, which must be over 50 million EUR and also provide 400 workplaces.

Other methods of supporting investment are the Passport to Export and the creation of a network of service centres for investors. – We believe that this program will be clear to investors, and that the new procedures will guarantee success and speedy implementations of the projects– said President Wojciechowski.

President of PAIIiZ - Paweł Wojciechowski

Poland is one of the largest beneficiaries of EU aid. During the years 2007 – 2013 there will be realised the Operational Program for Infrastructure and the Environment; the largest program of its kind in the EU. There are many incentives and grants planned for firms investing in human resources and innovative technology.

The choice of Poland as co-organisers for EURO 2012 football championships, is of great significance, which will doubtless cause the quickening of many investments to be implemented in Poland during the next few years. These will be investments above all in the fields of the road, rail and aviation infrastructures, also in the sectors of hotels and catering, together with tourism and recreation.
