New investment in Zawiercie
The newly built plant in Zawiercie can process 12,000 tons of used lithium-ion batteries per year – or about 28,000 EV battery packs per year. The plants will disassemble, discharge and shred EV batteries to produce black mass that can be used to produce new EV battery materials, including cathode active material (CAM) and cathode precursor (pCAM). Commercial-scale lithium extraction capabilities will be added to the new facility in autumn 2024 to achieve operational readiness by 2026.
The official opening of the investment, which was attended by a delegation from PAIH, took place on the 19th September this year.
