In the context of dynamic global changes and the growing role of bilateral partnerships, the event presented opportunities for cooperation in key areas such as trade and investment, green energy, digital transformation, logistics infrastructure, education and professional mobility.

The forum brought together representatives of New Zealand's largest companies operating in, among others) the construction, defence, cybersecurity and renewable energy sectors. The delegation from New Zealand held a number of B2B meetings with Polish companies and institutions, aimed at exchanging experiences, learning about local regulations and establishing lasting business partnerships.

Strengthening relations between countries

One of the key elements strengthening Polish-New Zealand cooperation is the free trade agreement between the European Union and New Zealand, which entered into force in May 2024. This agreement abolished many customs barriers, simplified administrative procedures and created new tools to support Polish and New Zealand entrepreneurs in their expansion into mutual markets.

Economic cooperation between Poland and New Zealand

Economic cooperation between Poland and New Zealand is systematically developing, despite the geographical distance between the two countries. In recent years, the value of Polish exports to New Zealand has increased, reaching around EUR 135 million in 2023. Poland exports mainly machinery, mechanical equipment, chemical products, food products and electronics. Imports from New Zealand, on the other hand, mainly include agri-food products, raw materials and industrial components. The EU-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which has been in force since 2024, has opened up new prospects for entrepreneurs from both countries, especially in the areas of green technologies, organic farming, digitalisation and logistics. There is also a growing interest in cooperation in the education, innovation and job mobility sectors, which indicates the long-term potential of this partnership.

Future prospects

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Ministry of Development and Technology declare further support for initiatives aimed at the development of Polish-New Zealand economic relations. Joint activities include the organisation of further forums, economic missions and events promoting innovation and technological exchanges.
