Polish-Swedish Economic Forum: Cooperation at a New Level

The first economic summit, inaugurating a new phase of Polish-Swedish cooperation, took place in Stockholm. It implements the strategic agreement signed at the end of November 2024 by the Prime Ministers of Sweden and Poland, Ulf Kristersson and Donald Tusk. The document outlined key areas of cooperation: innovation, clean energy, new technologies and digitalization, defense and support for Ukraine.

The event was the first in a series of high-level meetings between representatives of both countries. It brought together government representatives, business leaders, and experts from Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine, focusing on strengthening cooperation, developing investments, and supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The forum was opened by representatives of the highest authorities of both countries, including Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance and Economy, with Wojciech Wrochna, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy. Representatives of Sweden included Benjamin Dousa, Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and Maja Lundbäck, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, Entrepreneurship and Industry.

It is no coincidence that Polish-Swedish cooperation is strengthening quarter by quarter. It is part of our extensive economic diplomacy. Poland has much to offer: creativity, experience, innovative solutions, and excellent specialists. These are what make us an attractive partner and Poland remains one of the best places to invest in Europe - emphasized Minister Andrzej Domański.

Dozens of Polish and Swedish entrepreneurs participated in the Summit, including Adam Góral, CEO of Asseco Poland, and Marcus Wallenberg from SEB. The presence of Polish technology companies, which co-create global IT solutions, was received with great appreciation and served as a clear signal of the strength of Polish business in this key sector.

The role of Polish entrepreneurs and innovators featured prominently in discussions about the future of the economy. Poland, which has become a regional technology hub in recent years, was presented as a country combining business courage with a practical approach to digital transformation.

Innovation doesn't need borders. It needs determination, and Poland has it. The Polish-Swedish Forum is proof that Polish entrepreneurship, resilience and modernity are our greatest strengths today. Today's talks demonstrate that Poland is ready not only to cooperate but also to lead many processes in Europe - said PAIH President Andrzej Dycha.

One of the most important moments of the event was a debate dedicated to supporting Ukraine. Speakers included the Ukrainian Ambassador to Sweden, Svitlana Zalishchuk, and representatives of the Polish administration. It was emphasized that Poland, as a key partner of Kyiv, plays a significant role in international efforts to rebuild infrastructure, the economy, and security.

Supporting Ukraine's reconstruction means not only rebuilding companies after the war, but above all, providing Ukraine with models of Western business practices and anti-corruption standards - said Paweł Kowal, Chairman of the Council for Cooperation with Ukraine.

The Polish-Swedish Economic Forum was both a review of achievements and a harbinger of Poland's continued growth on the European economic map.

The Forum also featured closed expert sessions on energy transition, sustainable infrastructure, digitalization and the defense sector. The next Polish-Swedish Economic Summit will be held in Poland next year.
