Located in the very centre of Poland, the Łódź Voivodeship can boast a long tradition of manufacturing clothing and textiles. Currently, in addition to these two pillars, the most important industries in the region are: production of household appliances, pharmaceuticals, agri-food processing, production of medical equipment, packaging and construction ceramics. Almost 70 percent of the domestic production of ceramic tiles and terracotta tiles are produced in the Łódź Voivodeship. The region is also developing in other areas, such as: financial, billing and research services (BPO/SSC business process outsourcing, shared service centre) and biotechnology. It is worth noting that the largest industrial cluster of household appliances manufacturers in Europe was created in the Łódź Voivodeship. It is made up of, among others, manufacturers such as B/S/H/, Beko and Miele. An equally important sector for the region is logistics, the development of which is driven by the central location of the region. Amazon, GLS, DHL and Panattoni are companies that have recently dynamically increased their employment. The gigantic logistics centres built near the A1 and A2 motorways are key distribution hubs for the whole of Europe, which creates new jobs in warehouses, operations and IT departments.

Advantages of the voivodeship
- Central location in Poland, at the intersection of the European transport corridors North-South and East-West (A1 and A2) facilitating access to both the markets of neighbouring EU countries and the markets of Ukraine, Kazakhstan and China thanks to, among others, the Łódź-Chengdu cargo rail connection in China's Sichuan province.
- Highly qualified and committed employees. Numerous universities and vocational schools prepare employees with the highest professional competences. Over 57% of the total population are people of working age.
- The scientific and research potential of 28 Institutes of Higher Education and research centres is significant in the country. Over 14,000 students study technical faculties at Lodz University of Technology and the University of Lodz, and about 3,000 graduates join the labour market every year.
- A large number of companies with foreign capital (compared to other Voivodeships).
- The Voivodeship is the second largest producer of energy in the country (after Silesia) and has a surplus of cheap electricity.
- Sources of thermal waters, which can be the basis for the development of renewable energy and the development of spa functions in the region (the example of the only thermal spa in Poland in Uniejów and the Thermal Water Pump Room in Poddębice).
- Active economic policy of the voivodeship authorities aimed at the development of friendly administration for small and small enterprises and at the creation of favourable employment conditions.
- Attractive investment offers located throughout the province.
- A large number of companies from the SME sector that can be treated as potential sub-suppliers of parts and components for foreign manufacturers. In 2023, more than 283,000 business entities were registered in the Łódź Voivodeship; the vast majority are SMEs.
Most companies in Łódz operate in the service industry, including primarily in sectors such as: trade, repair of motor vehicles, transport (mainly road), warehouse management, accommodation and catering, information and communication, financial and insurance activities, and real estate market services.
