The report was presented by Antonio Gomes, Deputy Director for Finance and Enterprise at the OECD. He spoke about the characteristics of the Polish economy and the significant share of SMEs among Polish companies, as well as the development potential that can be helped by foreign direct investment. The conference was also attended by the Chairman of the Management Board of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Andrzej Dycha, who emphasized PAIH’s role in attracting investors to Poland and the opportunities offered to Polish companies by their presence in our country.

The ongoing changes on the global arena significantly increase international competition for investment. In the face of these challenges, it becomes even more important to use the Agency's experience in attracting foreign investors and to propose innovative solutions that will respond to the needs of today's market - said the head of PAIH.

As part of the event, a panel discussion was a held on the importance of foreign direct investment for accelerating the development of Polish companies from the SME sector.

The conference devoted to the report was followed by the Investor Gala. The event is organized every year to thank investors and honour the most important investments implemented with the support of the Agency in the previous year. The gala was attended by the Minister of Development and Technology, Krzysztof Paszyk, and members of PAIH’s Management Board. The meeting was opened by the Agency’s Chairman, who spoke about the huge positive impact of foreign investments on the dynamics of the economy and the benefits they bring to Polish business.

One of the factors that give energy to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises are foreign direct investments. They also have a positive impact on attracting foreign know-how to industries that are still only at the beginning of their journey in Poland - said Andrzej Dycha.

In his speech, he also emphasized that last year the Agency handled 53 investment projects with a total declared value of EUR 2.4 billion.

The Minister of Development and Technology spoke about the prospects for further development of the Polish economy thanks to investments. He pointed out the direction which needs to be followed in order to ensure stable economic development, taking into consideration geopolitical factors.

Today's gala is unique because Poland is facing a great investment boom. It offers great opportunities that require the involvement of entrepreneurs. Secondly, the reality that surrounds us today creates unique challenges related to our security and building defence potential, and this will only be possible with a strong and resilient economy. You are the guarantors of this resilience and strength of the economy, which guarantees our security. I am glad that we will be able to fully honour the achievements, dedication and wisdom of those of you who shown that they know how to invest - said Minister Krzysztof Paszyk.

The awards were once again presented in five categories:

  • In the category of Production Investment of the Year, the statuette was awarded to Windar Polska.
