A golden year for PAIH

It was a record year for the Polish Investment and Trade Agency. Foreign companies have invested over EUR 3.5 billion in Poland with the support of the Polish Agency. It has never been so good. The sum is EUR 800 million more than in the previous year and 700 million more than in the record-breaking year of 2019.

Investments in 2021

This was a golden year for PAIH. It is clear to see that hard work pays off, and 3.5 billion euros of foreign direct investment is a success for the entire PAIH team and our partners. Behind these figures there is not only money, but also new jobs. There will be nearly 18 thousand of them. - notes PAIH’s Chairman, Krzysztof Drynda.

I am glad that PAIH, as the agency responsible for foreign investments in our country, can support the Polish economy so effectively - adds Minister Piotr Nowak, of the Ministry of Development and Technology supervising PAIH.

The largest investors in terms of financial outlays in 2021 were: South Korea investing EUR 1.9 billion in Poland and creating 1967 jobs, Germany implementing projects worth EUR 155 million and generating 192 jobs, and the US, whose investors planned investments of a total of 363.91 million euros, giving 5 414 jobs. This year, Poland was an attractive place for the development of investment activities in the following sectors: BSS (IT + SSC), R&D, electromobility, automotive, medical, electronic, construction materials and chemical.

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency attracted 96 foreign investments in 2021, including 37 from Belarus.

This is a huge success of the Polish program. Business Harbour - emphasizes Minister Piotr Nowak. Thanks to it, Belarusian specialists, start-ups and companies from the IT industry receive comprehensive assistance in relocating their business to the territory of the Republic of Poland - adds Nowak.

Program Poland. Business Harbour turned out to be PAIH’s great success and in July it was extended to other countries. The list includes Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia and Moldova. The agency and its partners are already working on its further expansion.

Poland an attractive place for investment in the following sectors

The greatest number of investment projects were attracted by the Mazowieckie Voivodship, where 27 projects were located, Dolnośląskie - 15 and Małopolskie and Śląskie - 10 projects. When it comes to the value of investments, the Silesian Voivodeship is the undisputed leader.

2021 was not an easy year for the global economy. We are all the more pleased that despite the on going pandemic, foreign Investors see Poland as an attractive destination. What distinguishes Poland in the eyes of investors is primarily its young, well-educated people, the fast investor service path, aid programs which are well-suited to market needs, such as the government grants supported by PAIH and CIT exemption - says Piotr Nowak, from the Minister of Development and Technology. These support instruments and a stable economy, with an established macroeconomic position in the world create ideal conditions for foreign investors to open or continue their business activities in Poland. - emphasizes the Minister.

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency has set ambitious goals for 2022, despite the growing competition between countries in terms of obtaining investments. PAIH’s Chairman, Krzysztof Drynda, is convinced that another record in the area of FDI will be broken this year.

As an Agency, we are already focusing not only on strengthening the development of sectors important for the country’s economy, but also on attracting investors from industries of the future: electromagnetic, electronics and IT. The year 2022 brings with it uncertainty and risks related to supply chains which have not been rebuilt, which last year led to the crisis in the automotive industry. We will make every effort to promote Poland on the international arena in 2022 and to present it as the country taking over the role of the production center of Europe. If pandemic restrictions allow it, we plan to continue to actively acquire high-quality investments from the most promising countries, such as South Korea, Japan, the US, and to promote Poland on those markets from which, recently, less investments have come in.
