PFR Group with a new website for startups
Polish Development Found Group has launched a new website for Polish start-ups: where innovators at every stage of their business acceleration can find useful information regarding the public support offered by the PFR Group, including PAIH.

The vast range of products for start-ups have been selected from the offer of all institutions gathered within the PFR Group. Those are: PAIH, PFR Ventures, PARP, BGK, ARP. The incentives have been grouped according to the needs and stage of each company development. In addition, the website includes map to navigate the public innovative ecosystem in Poland. is also addressed to technological start-ups with product that are ready to be commercialized overseas. For such companies PAIH has created a special expansion action plan that covers such elements as: market analyses, site selection, study visit in chosen locations, HR consulting, business counterparts selection and support in public aid acquisition in the chosen country. The Agency will also assist in verification of business strategy and in taking the right direction to expand. Among start-ups that have already benefited from PAIH foreign acceleration programme, there are such Polish apps producers as QuatricOn and Deep.Doc.

“We assist the majority of our high-tech clients in setting up their business development units abroad, while the core R&D business stays in Poland. Usually, we recommend starting the activity in co-works so that companies can immediately enter the local innovative environment”, explains Aleksander Libera, Head of Polish Foreign Investments Section in PAIH.

According to PAIH expert, Polish start-ups are mostly willing to open their offices in the UK, the US and Germany. “For those who are interested in starting the business in the Silicon Valley, PAIH can offer a free office for the first three month in the famous Rocket Space co-work”, Libera explains. He also talks about a new trend. Young high-tech business are more and more interested in emerging markets of Asia and Africa. For those companies, PAIH established Go Africa, Go China, Go ASEAN, Go Iran, Go India programmers. There is also a growing interest in expanding R&D business to the Eastern Europe outside the UE, Libera explains. (PAIH)

Egypt reforms the economy and invites investors
The potential of the North African market was discussed during the business networking meeting organized jointly by PAIH and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) in Egypt. The workshop has been arranged as one of the events celebrating the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Egypt.

“Egypt remains our priority economic partner in the African continent. It is also a gateway for to the Middle East”, said deputy director of Promotion Department in PAIH, Adam Normark. Egypt is located on key international logistic routes and the Suez Canal is considered to be the shortest route linking East and West, due to its unique geographical location.

This northern African country is changing very dynamically, recently. "Our state has adopted an intensive, three-dimensional promotion strategy. It bases on business reforms and should lead to the increase of investment attractiveness of the country and improvement of investor support", said Mohamed Youssef, Head of European Department at GAFI.

The Egyptian government is also planning to modernize the system of special free trade zones located mainly around Cairo and the Nile delta. The zones offer a number of incentives for foreign companies. “The Egyptian government is very open and supportive for the business. In addition, our organization is dedicated to helping foreign investors in the process of preliminary business reconnaissance and in the further expanding of operations in Egypt. We organize match-making meetings, provide networking sessions, we also train our native business to understood business intercultural communication", said director of GAFI. (PAIH)


Mondelēz in Poland from 25 years
The world food giant, Mondelēz International is celebrating 25 year of its presence in Poland. Only within the last seven years, the company has invested PLN 808m in the country, combining production with development of very high-tech solutions. Global Research & Development and Quality Centre in Bielany Wrocławskie is the latest investment the company has implemented with PAIH support.

Since years, Poland has been considered as a strategic location for the producer of such confections, as Milka, Oreo, belVita, Halls, Alpen Gold, as well as Prince Polo and Delicje. “Here in Poland, there are the first-class technology universities, so is the access to skilled staff. We also have many years of experience in effective co-operation with local authorities, which is very important in terms of the further development of the company”, said Rob Hargrove, Vice President of Research, Development and Quality Centre at Mondelēz International.

The company activity in Poland dates from 1992. Since then, Mondelēz has established a production network that consists of 7 factories in Poland, including the one in Skarbimierz that was expanded in 2015 with a R&D unit worth PLN 100m. Recently, the company has started the celebration of the 25th anniversary of its presence in Poland from opening R&D+Q centre in Bielany Wrocławskie.

Worth nearly $ 17m, Mondelēz’s centre is one of the most innovate R&D+Q facilities the company owns, globally. It has been located close to Mondelēz’s chocolate factory in Bielany Wrocławskie to develop new recipes of chocolate and cakes (including Milka, Oreo, Alpen Gold, Lubi¶), there. Over 250 professionals will be employed in the centre.

Oetiker builds in Dolny ¦l±sk
Swiss-based Oetiker has just started to build a production complex of automotive components in Legnickie Pola. Supported by PAIH, the investment is being implemented under the Legnica Special Economic Zone. The start of the production is scheduled for mid-2018. 100 skilled professionals will be hired there.

The site selection has been given by Oetiker to PAIH and Metro Plan. The investor was particularly interested in the South-Western part of Poland. Finally, the company chose Legnickie Pola in Dolny ¦l±sk, due to the excellent location of the plot, in the close proximity of the A4 motorway.

“The investor was also looking for the access to the good labour force, and proximity to other automotive companies”, explains Artur Terlecki, project manager at PAIH, who run the project. Oetiker's new investment will be neighbouring Faurecia production facility.

This is the next project that goes to Legnickie Pola. As Henryk Babu¶ka, the mayor of the municipality announced during the ground-breaking ceremony, the local authorities are now negotiating to transfer also the land in Nowa Wie¶ Legnica to Legnica Special Economic Zone. (PAIH)

IKEA is expanding its largest sawmill
In Stalowa Wola, IKEA Poland has invested in the production of pallets. The project is an extension of the biggest sawmill, the Scandinavian furniture producer has ever owned.

Every year, IKEA Industry in Stalowa Wola supplies the company’s plants in Poland and Slovakia in 120,000 m3 of pinewood lumber. This raw material is used for the production of solid wood furniture by the company. Three years after the establishment of the sawmill in Stalowa Wola, IKEA Industry decided to expand the facility, building a pallet plant unit.

12 Congress of Industry and Automotive Market
Polish Investment and Trade Agency invites you to the 12th Congress of Industry and Automotive Market, which is under its honorary patronage. The event, that will offer merits-related knowledge and industry insights, will be held on 8-9 November at the Sound Garden Hotel in Warsaw.

The expected number of participants is about 600 people: biggest players in the automotive parts market, as well as representatives of government and state institutions.

Sheng Siong from Singapore for the first time in Poland
At the invitation of the PAIH Office in Singapore, one of Singapore's largest retail chains, Sheng Siong, arrives in Poland. The Singaporean trade giant will be looking for new suppliers at the Polagra Food fair, which starts on September 25 in Poznań.

Every year, Polagra Food expo is visited by several dozen thousand representatives of food business who come to Poznań from around the world in search of the latest products, inspiration, and, most of all, looking to start long-lasting contracts. On top of that, the fair is an important event for all people trying to develop their export potential, where the Hosted Buyer programme comes into play.

This year, thanks to the efforts of PAIH office in Singapore, one of the main retailers in Singapore, Sheng Siong comes to Poznań to take part in the Hosted Buyers Program for foreign merchants. Polish manufacturers exhibiting at Polagra Food have the opportunity to establish relationships with Sheng Siong and other Singaporean companies during B2B talks. "This is the first time Singapurean retailers are visiting Poland and take part in, opportunity in the history of the programme," says the head of PAIH office in Singapore Agnieszka Szweda.
