AIH & KOTRA develop strategic partnership
On June 29, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency signed a cooperation agreement with the South Korean Investment Agency (KOTRA). South Korea is the largest non-European investor supported by PAIH. It is also the second biggest investment partner of Poland from outside Europe.

Tomasz Pisula: We have a strategic partnership that shapes our bilateral relations

“Not only do we cooperate with South Korea and KOTRA, but we have a strategic partnership that shapes our bilateral relations”, said Tomasz Pisula, PAIH President before the ceremony of signing the agreement with KOTRA. “It is a great honour for Poland that South Korea has chosen Poland as its main trading and investment partner in Central Europe”, he added.

PAIH and KOTRA renewed cooperation agreement to increase the scope of cooperation

Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has been a partner of its Polish counterpart for many years. However, after the transformation of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency into the Polish Investment and Trade Agency at the beginning of 2017, both parties decided to renew official relations and to increase the scope of cooperation. From this moment, PAIH and KOTRA will strength their ties in supporting trade between Poland and South Korea. During the MoU signing ceremony, PAIH president Tomasz Pisula announced that PAIH is planning to open its foreign office in Seoul next year to support the two way traffic in trade and investment.

Towards: Mexico
Mexico is one of the first countries where PAIH opened its foreign office. Since the opening in April, the Agency served eighty requests of Polish entrepreneurs. Financing the expansion of Polish companies to Mexico was disused on 27 June, during the business mixer arranged by the BGK bank.

Wojciech Fedko: “We received a mandate from the Polish government to support the export offensive of Polish entrepreneurs”

“We received a mandate from the Polish government to support the export offensive of Polish entrepreneurs” said PAIH Executive Vice President, Wojciech Fedko. As he explained, Polish government and institutions affiliated to the Polish Development Fund would like to diversify the list of foreign target markets for Polish trade and investment. The aim is to reduce the share of exports to the European Union from a current level of 80% and direct it to other markets. “In order to play a greater role in global markets, Poland needs partners in non-European markets, especially in the Atlantic region. Mexico is an excellent base for Polish business”, Mr Fedko said.

Polish development institutions: BGK Bank, PAIH and Trade and Export Credit Insurance Corporation will play a strategic role in the process of opening the Mexican market for products, services and investments from Poland. The attractiveness of this state is slowly being discovered by the Polish companies. Trade between the two countries is growing and should exceed $1bn, this year.

However, still the potential of mutual business relations with Mexico remains largely untapped, especially in the investment area. “That situation justified the opening of the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Mexico City in the first phase of our new foreign activity”, Wojciech Fedko explained. The office started to work in April, during the economic mission of the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda to Mexico. (PAIH / BGK)
