LOT - the best business airline in EMEA
LOT Polish Airlines won the Globe Runner Award, in global voting of business travellers from all over the world.

LOT was chosen as the Best Airline for Europe/Middle East/Africa by the most demanding and experienced group of travellers -150,000 businessmen who read Frequent Business Traveler. Delta Air Lines and United Airlines tied for Best Airline in the Americas, while for the third year in a row Singapore Airlines won for Best Airline in the Asia/Pacific region.

It is not the only award for LOT. LOT Polish Airlines has been awarded dozen Best European Airline titles and other international prizes from such magazines as Business Traveller or Globe Travel. It also gains many awards in Poland. (www.frequentbusinesstraveler.com/ LOT)

Polish Parliament debates under the establishment of Polish Space Agency which will be involved in the implementation of governmental policy of space researches.

Polish Space Agency (also called POLSA) has been designed to coordinate Polish space policy that derives from national, EU and international programmes as Poland is a member of European Space Agency. POLSA will develop space and satellite technologies and their applications for utility, industrial, defence and scientific issues.  The Agency will also support all activities regarding the promotion of Polish space industry and researches of Polish scientists on space exploration. Polish design in Budapest
Until 29 August in Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest, one can watch the exhibition of Polish designers’ projects that won Red Dot Award. Since 2008, 37 Polish projects received the Red Dot.

The exhibition entitled “the Polish Red Dots” shows design made in Poland to the Hungarian audience. All, 37 projects that have ever won the Red Dot Award will be presented there.  Polish Red Dots’ projects are a combination of good design, aesthetics, high quality and functionality. For both, their producers and designers, design is a strategic tool that helped them to achieve business success in domestic and international markets.

6 new FDI projects in PAIiIZ portfolio
Over 34,500 new jobs can be created due to FDI supported by PAIiIZ.

Currently, there are 164 investment projects on PAIiIZ list that in total are worth €31,531m and in future can deliver 34,597 new jobs to Poland.

The majority of investment projects come form the US, Germany and Great Britain. The US, with 44 projects that are worth €6,53.4 m, leads in terms of the country of origin of FDI in Poland. Germany has 29 active projects with a total value of €426.65m, while British investors provide 11 FDI projects worth €98.5m in total. The three leaders are followed by France and India (9 projects each), China, Sweden, South Korea and Italy (6 projects each).

The list of the most popular sectors among foreign investors includes: BPO (41 projects worth €34,6m), automotive (31 projects; worth €1,351.25m), R&D (11 projects), aviation (10 projects).

Since the beginning of 2014, the Agency has successfully completed 25 investment projects with a total value of €1641,99m that in the future can deliver 5,465 new jobs in Poland. (PAIiIZ)

Poland’s biggest investment in India
On 25 July, Polish company BELLA PREMIER Happy HygieneCare Pvt.Lt owned by TZMO SA has opened its fulfilment centre in Ambathuraiu (Tamilnadu region) in India.

New TZMO centre is the biggest Polish investment project in India and the second investment of the company in this country. Bella has been present on the local market for 12 years. The company is also involved in social life of India by organising Bella Badminton Cup and cooperating with government under the education programme of teaching the basic rules of hygiene at local schools. TZMO has been awarded the Mother Teresa Award for the programme. (PSSE)

Hygienika takes over drugstores in Luxemburg
Polish company Hygienika has announced the acquisition of Meng drugstores in Luxembourg.

The company operating in personal care sector has paid €20m for Meng assets. (Hygienika)

Rotho invests in SSEZ
Słupsk Special Economic Zone has issued business permit to Rotho. The value of investment has been estimated at PLN 40m. 46 new jobs will be created by this Swiss company.

The Swiss company Rotho is one of the leading suppliers of plastic products for households in Europe. The investor plans to start production of eco friendly plastic household packaging and build a fulfilment centre in Koszalin subzone.

In the first half of 2014, Słupsk SEZ has issued 20 permits to conduct business there. The total value of all new investments will reach PLN 765.86 m. 417 new jobs will be created there. (SSEZ)

Uganda orders helicopters in Poland
Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uganda ordered GrandNew and W-3A Sokół helicopters from the PZL-Świdnik.

The helicopeters produced by Polish factory PZL-Świdnik that is owned by Agusta Westland, will be delivered in 2015 to Uganda. GrandNew and W-3A Sokół aircrafts will be operated by the local Police to perform law enforcement missions across the nation.

The W-3A Sokoł is a highly effective aircraft capable of operating in all types of climates and environmental conditions, while the GrandNew was chosen for its unparalleled performance and advanced technology providing superior mission capabilities and safety in adverse operating conditions.

The contract with Ugandan Police is the next success of PZL-Świdnik’s and its parent company’s helicopters in the African commercial and parapublic markets to perform a wide range of missions including law enforcement, emergency medical services, VIP transport, offshore transport and harbour pilot shuttle. (PZL-Świdnik)

Polish Game Evening
Polish Trade and Investment Promotion Section in Cologne invites video game industry in Poland to participate in the Polish Game Evening. The meeting will be held on 12 August.

The meeting has been arranged on the eve of Games.com in Cologne (between 13-17.08.2014) - one of the world’s biggest video game event. The Polish Game Evening aims to present Polish companies to the global industry and to customers who visit trade fairs. Polish exhibitors will also have the opportunity to take part in panel discussion on the development of the industry as well as to participate in matchmaking meetings with German giant video game companies.

Big 5 trade fair in Dubai
Under the promotion of Polish companies in United Arab Emirates programme, PAIiIZ invites companies to participate at the "Big 5" trade fairs in Dubai. The event will be held on 17-20 November 2014.

"Big 5" is the largest trade fair of construction and building industry in the region, that is visited by over 35,000 visitors each year.  Polish companies will have the opportunity to present their advertising materials at trade stands and in informational folder prepared by PAIiIZ (English and Arabic version).  The Agency will also help to arrange meetings with local business during the event.

4th China Expo Poland
Between 4 and 6 September, MT Polska in Warsaw invites all to 4th China Expo Poland 2014. This event is dedicated to Poland - China trade cooperation. PAIiIZ took the patronage over the exhibition.

The fourth China Expo Poland, arranged by Targi Polska and Pol-Chin Consulting, is a place where the offer of Chinese companies will be presented. The exhibition is also the best opportunity to establish Polish - Chinese business contacts.

This year’s China Expo Poland is dedicated to interior decoration and house appliances, lightning, electronics and textiles.

Business mission to Scandinavia
Pomeranian Regional Development Agency organizes business missions to Norway and Denmark. Companies representing Polish ICT and eco-friendly agre-food sectors from Pomerania can apply for financing the participation in those missions.

The mission to Norway will be held between 13 and 16 October. Oslo is said to be the major centre for ICT and new technologies in the country. Over 60% of Norwegian ICT companies is located on the city. The program of the mission includes meeting with Norwegian companies, B2B talks and study visits.

The second mission, to Denmark, will be arranged between 24-26 November. Participants will take part in Agromek 2014 - one of the biggest exhibitions of the agricultural sector in Europe.

Both economic missions to Scandinavia are organised by the Pomeranian Regional Development Agency in Słupsk under the project entitled "INVEST IN POMORSKIE II - Promotion of investment attractiveness of the region of Pomerania in the Nordic countries and Germany."

Polish scientist won Global Research Initiative grant
PHD Mirosław Szczepański won the Global Research Initiative grant for providing researches on anti-cancer herbal drugs.

Mirosław Szczepański from Medical University of Warsaw is one of the 20, young scientists from all over the world that received the Global Research Initiative grant worth €50,000.

Polish R&D sector is developing very successfully - not only in medicine. The vast majority of such projects are supported by foreign investors. In terms of investments provided by the Agency, R&D is the third most popular sector attracting FDI in Poland (11 ongoing projects). (www.wum.edu.pl)
