179 investments and Go Arctic programme: PAIiIZ plans for autumn
"PAIiIZ is working at full steam. We support an impressive number of investment projects and we are preparing new missions promoting Polish business in the world”, said PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman about the Agency’s plans for autumn and winter during a meeting with economic journalists.

Since the beginning of 2015, the Agency has successfully finished 29 investment projects worth € 366m in total. Due to that, 6,428 new jobs will be created. It is nearly 600 more than in the same period last year. Currently, PAIiIZ portfolio consists of 179 investment projects with a total value of € 3.83bn and a chance for another 32,738 new jobs in Poland. "Negotiations and new investments come to Poland mostly as a result of effective investment marketing. The Agency managed to win 43 ongoing projects after its investment missions all around the world. On the other hand, 24 investments were gained due to investment aftercare provided by PAIiIZ”, commented Majman. Until the end of 2015, the Agency plans to arrange five more investment missions to attract new investors to Poland. "We are going to “hunt” investments in the US, Canada, Italy and Germany," PAIiIZ president said.

Participants of the meeting talked about the trends in investments supported by the Agency. Automotive industry, especially investments of automotive suppliers have dominant role in the PAIiIZ portfolio. The Agency supports 37 ongoing investments represented by the industry, worth €677.75 m in total. The second position, with 34 projects, is held by BPO sector. Also the increasing importance of R&D activities is observed. With 16 ongoing projects worth €650.4m in total, the sector is listed as third biggest. According to Mr Majman, investments with Polish capital are a rising star in the portfolio. "We work with 8 Polish investors, who intend to invest €170.42 m. We also notice an increasing activity of the Italian investors. Projects from Italy jumped to the fifth position in the ranking of PAIiIZ. There is a growing number of agri-food investments under our wings as well”, the president commented. “Large projects have started to knock on our doors”, added the director of Foreign Investment Department Iwona Chojnowska-Haponik.

The Agency also supports Polish capital on its way to global expansion and foreign investments. Two “study tours” are planned for Polish IT companies interested in opening IT offices in US and United Arab Emirates. PAIiIZ will also arrange a study visit to Belarus for agri-food producer considering building a factory PAIiIZ. This autumn, the Agency will also focus on Polish food companies interested in entering China. A guide “Step by step in the Chinese market” will be published and workshops on distribution channel of food from Poland will be arranged. On the other hand, Polish companies from agri-food, contraction and energy sectors interested in entering Africa will be welcome to the fact-finding missions to Ethiopia, Mozambique and Botswana that will be held under Go Africa programme.

“After successes of Go China and Go Africa programmes, it is a time for Go Arctic. We are launching this new programme this autumn”, announced Mr Majman. The Go Arctic project will start from the conference on governmental level. Then, in November the mission to Arctic will be arrange.

The Agency has also planes regarding new publications. Over 10 new surveys and reports on sectors of Polish economy and investments will be issued by the end of 2015. One of them will be dedicated to the investment climate of Poland after 10 years of Poland’s presence in the EU. This year, together with HSBC Bank, the Agency will check what has changed during that decade. (PAIiIZ)


Rolls-Royce and Hispano-Suiza JV to build production plant in Poland
Rolls-Royce and Hispano-Suiza announce the creation of Aero Gearbox International and plans to construct a production plant in Poland manufacturing accessory drive trains (ADTs) for all of Rolls-Royce's future civil aircraft engines.

Aero Gearbox International will cover the entire range of civil aircraft, from business jets to widebody commercial jets. The construction of a new production plant will start at the end of 2015. It will be located in the Podkarpackie Province in southeast Poland. The new facility will initially grow to approximately 110 people and the first deliveries are expected in 2017.The project was supported by PAIiIZ.

US Financial Services Giant Invests in Gdańsk
A global leader in the financial services sector - State Street, is opening its office in Gdańsk. The company plans to employ more than 300 employees next year. It is the most significant investment venture so far within the business services sector in the Pomeranian region and one of the largest in Poland over recent years.

The decision resulted from a complex location study and ultimately Gdańsk was identified as the preferred location. The city was required to satisfy several key criteria including: location, access to qualified staff, the presence of reputable and cooperative universities and high quality office space with supporting communication and infrastructure. The investor also placed great value on the effective cooperation with local authorities.

“New employees in the Gdańsk office will be providing the same services as their colleagues working in other State Street’s offices across the globe like, London, Boston and Hong Kong" says Scott Newman, Managing Director of State Street Bank Poland.

Bagpak and Stalgast to reinvest
Industrial Development Agency issued next business permits for Bagpak Poland and Stalgast Radom companies allowing them to reinvest in Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone EURO-PARK WISŁOSAN. Companies will invest PLN 67m in total and employ at least 9 people.

The two companies enter the area for the second time. This is the 5th permit issued for Bagpak Poland. The investor is going to build a storage and production hall in Stalowa Wola subzone. At the same time, Stalgast Radom, received the second permit in Radom subzone -this time to purchase of machinery and production equipment.

Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone EURO-PARK WISŁOSAN has already issued 13 permits for activities within the zone in 2015. (TSEZ)

AGRO FOOD PACK 2015 in Abu Dhabi
The Polish Trade Investment Promotion Office in Abu Dhabi invites Polish food companies to take part in the SAUDI AGRO FOOD PACK 2015 that will be held between 11-14 October.

Polish companies will have the opportunity to promote their offer and provide B2B talks at the Polish national stand. Access to the stand is free of charge. Registration is available by 20 September.

Cooperation Fair. Strategies for the developing investments
Cooperation Fair. Strategies for the developing investments will be held in Poznań, on 15 September 2015. The meeting is dedicated to representatives of industry and logistics sectors interested in doing business in Special Economic Zones in Poland. The event is held under PAIiIZ patronage.

Industrial and logistical projects as well as business models for execution of such investments will be presented during expert panels and workshops. Also investment potential in Special Economic Zones in Poland will be discussed there. The meeting also includes matchmaking session.

Cooperation Fair has been arranged by Hochtief Polska in cooperation with the Construction Club.

September with Polish films at EXPO 2015 in Milan
Everyday at 7:00 pm, between 3 and 30 September, Polish Pavilion will be the venue of Polish Film Show. One would also have a chance to meet Polish directors there.

During a month, 12 Polish films will be presented at EXPO 2015 in Milan. They all present Poland as modern, dynamic European country. The show is open to all and will include meeting with film critics, film students and other representatives of the film industry.

Business Speed Dating, networking breakfast and conference entitled: "Become Superentrepreneurs” are the main highlights of the third “Outsourcing Fair - Innovations for Your Business” conference. The event will be held between 14-15 October at EXPO XXI.

Gala of the European Business
On 12 September, in Sala Biała of the Jan III Sobieski Palace in Wilanów (Warsaw), the Association of European Business Club - Poland will award representatives of business, science and sport for their outstanding activity in Europe and globally.

The ceremony is held for the third time. This year the prizes are given to individuals, companies, institutions and social organizations, which specifically contributed to raise the prestige of Poland internationally, for contributions in supporting the development of entrepreneurship, economy, science, culture and sport, for achievements in the field of promoting European integration and the development of civil society and for, for achievements in social activities.

The employment speeds
According to Polish Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the unemployment rate in Poland goes down since 5 months. Moreover, the number of new job offers hasn’t been so high since 2001!

In June, the public work service offices registered a recorded number of new job offers, amounting to 117,000. On the other hand, the number of unemployed people in Poland went down by 35,100 to the level of 1.58 million. It was the biggest decrease since 5 years. The improvement on the labour market was recorded in all provinces in Poland. The forecast shows that the unemployment rate should be smaller than 10% soon. (MLSP)

Sustainable recovery of the Polish automotive market
In the first half of 2015 years, 177,800 passenger cars were registered in Poland, which is about 1% more than the year before. The number of new motorcycles breaks records - states a quarterly report "Automotive industry", published by PZPM and KPMG.

The recovery can be observed not only in trade, but also in the automotive industry. The sold production of car factories located in Poland amounted to PLN 63.3 bn in the first half of 2015 years. It is about 9.2% more than last year. During the first half of 2015, market of new passenger cars recorded a slight increase of 1.1% on a year-over-year basis, however, maintaining sales volume at the same level as in 2014, seems to be very good result. In 2014, the market was strongly stimulated by special tax allowance.

Segment of premium brands cars is booming. In the second quarter of 2015, the number of registration of new passenger cars in this segment increased by 9.4% comparing to the previous quarter and by 20.3% y/y.

It is also worth noting, that the sales of alternative drive vehicles have increased. During the first quarter of 2015, the number of registered cars with alternative drive was 55% higher than in the respective period in 2014, amounting to 2,500 in total, the majority of which were hybrid vehicles.

In the second quarter of 2015, the number of registered new motorcycles reached the highest recorded level of 9,700. It was three times bigger than in the second quarter of 2014. (KPMG/PZPM)
