The Lubuskie Voivodeship is located in the central-western part of Poland. Nine border crossings ensure adequate economic cooperation with its immediate neighbour Germany. Currently, the leading industry in the region is production for the automotive sector, and the traditional industries are wood processing and paper production. Sectors such as electronics, food, glass and building ceramics, machinery, metal structures (metal products), biotechnology, transport and logistics are also active. Zielona G\u00f3ra and Gorz\u00f3w Wielkopolski are also important academic centres with significant scientific achievements.
