The development of the railway sector in Poland is based on a long-term strategy that involves building a modern, fast and sustainable transport system. The country is becoming increasingly bold with ambitious projects, modernising the rail network and upgrading rolling stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key projects is the programme to build a high-speed rail by 2035, which will allow trains to travel at 300-320 km\/h between major Polish cities. The project brings Poland into the ranks of world leaders in modern railways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong export position of Polish manufacturers<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Polish companies in the rail sector are successfully competing with global leaders. The total export value of the sector was almost USD 2 billion in 2024. The dominant categories in Polish rail industry exports were rolling stock parts (over $810 million) and passenger cars (over $710 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The domestic rail industry has been growing for years, gaining recognition not only on the domestic market but also abroad. Rolling stock manufacturers are increasingly competing with major European companies, winning contracts in different parts of the world. Poland\u2019s largest rolling stock manufacturer PESA exports its vehicles to countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Trains from the Poland\u2019s second largest manufacturer, Newag, are exported to Italy or Bulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish manufacturers also offer state-of-the-art equipment, software and simulators that make travels all over the world safe and fast. Tunnels, bridges and stations are being built with the use of the latest technology. Solutions are being developed in the area of signalling, level crossing protection or traffic control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engineers from Poland are also working on the cutting-edge solutions designed for urban rail transport. Medcom offers energy-efficient drives that enable reducing energy consumption by up to 15%. When combined with supercapacitor technology, they can bring savings as high as 30%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company works with Korean and Turkish manufacturers of rolling stock for public transport, among others, and its on-board solutions can be found in the USA, Turkey, Canada, Bulgaria, Romania or Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland is also a place where new railway technologies are being tested and developed. The town of \u017bmigr\u00f3d in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship is home to one of only eight test tracks in the world, where the durability, reliability and dynamics of rolling stock, traction, traffic control and track infrastructure are tested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish engineers are also working on the autonomisation of tram traffic. Advanced IT solutions for the rail sector and traffic simulators used in training and research are also being developed here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland also pioneered the use of hydrogen propulsion for the railway rolling stock. The world\u2019s first locomotive with such a propulsion system is gaining a growing number of customers looking for green and sustainable solutions. Its performance and comfortable cabin conditions are particularly appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland is an investment destination for many foreign companies from the railway sector. Global companies such as Alstom and Stadler operate here, producing trains, trams and underground trainsets. It was here that sets for Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands or Italy were manufactured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish railway is the transport of the future, based on modern technologies such as hydrogen propulsion, high-speed trains, as well as safe and automated vehicles. Comfortable and quiet carriages increase the comfort of travellers, while innovative solutions raise safety standards. Polish rolling stock manufacturers are expanding rapidly on the international market, exporting their products to Europe, Asia and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency<\/strong> organizes the Polish National Stands as part of a sectoral promotion programme targeting promising foreign markets. The programme is carried out under the project \u201cInternationalization of SMEs – Brand HUB<\/strong>\u201d, implemented by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, within the framework of the \u201cEuropean Funds for a Smart Economy 2021\u20132027\u201d programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of the \u201cInternationalization of SMEs – Brand HUB<\/strong>\u201d project is to leverage and enhance the development potential of Polish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and to increase export volumes through their participation in promotional activities in foreign markets. Sectoral promotion programmes aim to support the international recognition of these sectors by promoting the Polish Economy Brand under the slogan \u201cPoland. Business Forward<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
