Ministry of Energy (Belgium)

Since a year and a half she has been working as deputy head of cabinet for the Federal minister of Energy in Belgium, Tinne Van der Straeten. She is responsible for the renewable energy, including the federal Hydrogen Strategy next to the development of offshore wind and other renewable topics. Before working for the minister, she was the Managing Director for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in Belgium and Luxembourg and before that she worked within Siemens on industrial gas and steam turbines. She has a master decree in electromechanical engineering from the university of Ghent.

Szymon Byliński

Ministry of Climate and Environment (Poland)

Szymon Byliński is the director of the Department of Electromobility and Hydrogen Economy at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, a graduate of the National School of Public Administration. As an employee of the Ministry of Economy and then the Ministry of Energy, he was responsible for regulations concerning the fuel market, alternative fuels infrastructure and fuel quality. He was the head of the ministerial team for the quality of fuels and alternative fuels. He is the co-author of key documents for the development of electromobility in Poland: the Act of 11 January on electromobility and alternative fuels, the National Framework for the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure. Currently, as the director of the Department, he is responsible for the regulation of the electromobility market and for the Polish hydrogen strategy.

Roland Hequet is Vice-President Strategy, Partnerships & Mobility of John Cockerill Hydrogen. After getting a Master’s degree in engineering and general management, Roland has taken several managerial positions in large multi-national companies. He has spent his career in Europe, the USA and other parts of the world. With John Cockerill, he has been in charge of several group companies in France, Germany, USA, Russia and India. Since 2018, he has been developing the hydrogen activity of John Cockerill worldwide.

Stephan graduated as a master in law at the KUL and has a business economics degree from UAMS. In 1996, he started his career by joining Colruyt Group as responsible for environmental care and mobility coordinator. In 2004, Stephan joined the department logistics and production, starting as a team leader, then becoming the head of the department and eventually taking the position of division manager. In 2012 Stephan started Eoly (formerly known as WE-Power). In 2017 he also took the lead of DATS 24, the fueling business unit, actively developing new mobility (EV, CNG and hydrogen). Since April 2020 he’s working with Eoly Energy, part of the new renewable energy holding “Virya energy”. Stephan is a board member of FEBEG (Belgian energy producers and suppliers).

Manager with over 20 years of experience, his entire career has been associated with the energy and petrochemical industries. He has experience in strategic consulting, production management, improvement and digitalization of production processes as well as implementation of research and development projects and processes. Since 2021 Witold Sugalski has been the deputy director in the Research and Innovation Department in PGNIG SA, where projects within the Digitalisation and Large-Scale Energy Storage Programme are carried out.

Head of Business Development and Sales for Energy within Tractebel Engineering (Engie) – As a chemist with solid experience in different industries gained over almost 20-years, I believe that we can confront the challenges for the climate change through better solutions based on science, research, and innovation. I am passionately working with the Tractebel team to use our innovative solutions for our customers to improve the carbon footprint of the products chain. Privately I was born and raised in Poland. I have received Socrates Erasmus Stipendium at Carl von Ossietzky University 20 years ago. Since then, I was working for international companies worldwide and I am leaving with the family in Taunus area in Germany nowadays.

Paulina Brzezicka

Paulina Brzezicka is an Innovation Finance Advisor at the European Investment Bank. She works directly with project promoters and companies on the structuring of transactions to help them access funding. She also works on the development of new European financial instruments and initiatives in high priority sectors with a focus on climate action, including topics related to hydrogen, the circular- and bio-economy. Paulina is an experienced banker with a background in mergers and acquisitions (Bank of America Merrill Lynch), private equity (European Investment Fund equity investments team) and an economics-focused educational background from University College London, Bocconi University and Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Maciej Woszczyk

Maciej Woszczyk is a policy advisor at NCBR Office in Brussels since January 2021. His primary scope of interest is cluster 5 of Horizon Europe programme (climate, energy, mobility); he also tackles general principles and policies within the European Green Deal. Previously he worked for a wide range of institutions, including business, ministry and other bodies dealing with European funds. At NCBR he was involved in launching series of pre-commercial procurements in the field of R&D, predominantly in energy and transport.

Manager with many years of experience in the energy, electromobility, environmental protection, natural gas and crude oil markets. He took part in the largest infrastructure investments in Poland. A graduate of the University of Economics in Poznań, MBA studies at Aalto University (Finland) and the prestigious Swedish Institute Mamagement Program. He started his professional career in the investor relations and capital markets department in a gas & oil company from the WIG20 index on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Created and was responsible for managing the investor relations department, and then the innovation department at the RAFAKO group. The originator of the first Polish electric bus with batteries in the chassis and the president of the RAFAKO E-BUS company, today under the name ARP E-Vehiclea. Working closely with InnoEnergy on a daily basis. Expert in H2020 at EASME. He supports start-ups in Europe and South America in the energy and electromobility sector. Actively participates in the activities of the European Battery Alliance under the wings of the European Commission. Recently, he has also been involved in the venture capital market.
