An American investor will open a production plant and distribution center in Zabrze

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) supported another American investor. Weber-Stephen Products LCC, the manufacturer of barbecues, will build a production plant and create a European distribution center in Zabrze. Investment outlays are to amount to nearly EUR 50 million, and production will start as early as 2021. About 250 people will find work in the Polish Weber plant.

Weber-Stephen Products LLC manufactures coal, gas and electric barbecues and accessories. Most plants are located in the United States. In Europe, where the company has a network of distribution centers, an export-oriented factory is now to be built. The company took into account many countries for the location of their new investment, but eventually narrowed the selection down to Poland and the Czech Republic.

In the area of investor location consulting, it was supported by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency- PAIH. Their experts prepared information on legal regulations, including investment incentives. They also supported the client in contacts with representatives of the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), local administration and regional business support organizations. They also prepared a list of available plots. At the end of January this year, the investor won a tender for the purchase of a plot of land in KSEZ. Today, they signed a notarial deed and became the formal owner of the land. PAIH’S cooperation with the investor began in April 2019.

For years, Americans have been among the key investors served by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency. The total value of over 200 projects from the USA, supported by PAIH, is nearly EUR 4 billion. While the number employees declared by them, reaches almost 70 370 people. Many of these projects were implemented in larger urban centers. However, I hope that the Weber-Stephen investment will initiate greater involvement of American, and not only, companies in the development of smaller cities and towns - indicated Grzegorz S³omkowski, Member of the PAIH Board.

The American company will benefit from support within the Polish Investment Zone. The plot on which the factory will be built, has an area of 21.02 ha and is the largest investment plot in the KSEZ in Zabrze. Weber plans to start construction of their plant in 2020, and  productionis to start in 2021. The estimated investment outlays are to amount to nearly EUR 50 million. Weber intends to employ approximately 250 people in their Polish plant, with some of the staff being  involved in customer service.

- Because our business is growing all over Europe, we see an excellent opportunity to produce our products close to the markets we serve - says Chris Scherzinger, CEO of Weber-Stephen Products LLC. - We believe that opening this factory in Zabrze is in the best interest of our trading partners and will help us better serve our end users- fans of barbecuing  who trust Weber for their exceptional quality of products and services - he adds.
