  • Starting in 2021, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) plans to produce a second electronic continuously variable transmission (e-CVT) at its plant in Wa³brzych
  • With this 70 million euro investment, TMMP will also be producing one of the electric motors that are integral to Toyota’s hybrid electric powertrain system
  • The plant already produces hybrid transmissions for 1.8L hybrid engines since 2018

- Our Polish plants are increasingly becoming a key manufacturing center for electrified powertrain components for low-emission hybrid electric powertrains in Europe. This announcement is a clear sign of appreciation for our plants’ achievements and a renewed vote of confidence for the future. We will continue to develop our members to work with modern, automated processes that come with the production of the main components of electric motors. Today marks an important step in the long term planning towards continued electrification of the Polish, and the overall European automotive industry - Eiji Takeichi, President of TMMP, says.

- Highly-automated production guarantees creation of high quality jobs and transfer of technology. Consequently, both the innovativeness of the Polish economy and Poland’s position in the global value chain increases. Polish Investment and Trade Agency has been cooperating with Toyota for years. We also have been supporting its suppliers. Toyota’s reinvestment in a key sector of domestic economy is a proof of huge trust that world’s biggest investors have in Poland and Polish employees - Krzysztof Senger, Memebr of the Board, PAIH, points out.

TMMP owns and operates two manufacturing plants located in Lower Silesia. In addition to the production of e-CVTs for low-emission hybrid cars working with the 1.8 l engine, the plant in Wa³brzych produces 1l gasoline engines as well as manual and semi-automatic transmissions. TMMP’s annual production capacity in Walbrzych is 175,000 e-CVTs for hybrid powertrains, 285,000 engines and 633,000 transmissions.
