Infrastructure, transport, energy and new technologies are the sectors of high opportunities for economic cooperation between Poland and Azerbaijan. Poland can play a particularly significant role in the development of the local IT industry, introducing the best and the most technology innovative providers and programmers to the market - said Krzysztof Senger, Vice-President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, during the Business Forum in Baku. The Deputy Head of the Agency added that he believes that this event will contribute to the development of economic relations between Poland and Azerbaijan.

PAIH organized an economic mission in which took part 12 companies representing industries with the greatest potential for successful expansion to Azerbaijan, from sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, agri-food, agricultural machinery, cosmetics, construction and transport.

Elnara Mammadova, head of the PAIH trade office in Baku, stressed that the majority of Polish companies that have applied to the office so far are looking for distributors and partners on the Azerbaijani side, as well as information about the market and trade fairs in Azerbaijan.
This shows a huge interest in business between Warsaw and Baku. We receive inquiries from Polish companies on a daily basis. An interesting fact is that Azerbaijani companies turn to our office to ask for help in finding business partners from Poland. PAIH trade office in Baku creates an opportunity for Polish and Azerbaijani companies to have direct contact with manufacturers - emphasized Elnara Mammadova.
She also ensured that the investment climate of Azerbaijan is increasingly attractive. "There are no longer any restrictions on technology transfer or currency exchange, there is no discrimination between foreign and domestic investors, the requirements for a local partner have been eliminated, and there are no restrictions on the amount of foreign capital in companies or on the repatriation of profits” - she said.

She added that the protection of foreign investors' rights is respected. In addition, there is an exemption from export duties on goods manufactured in Azerbaijan by foreign investors.

"Moreover, what is important from the point of view of Polish companies - investors can use seven special industrial and technological parks, which guarantee CIT exemption for 7 years, exemption from property tax, land tax and VAT exemption for equipment and technological devices” - explained.

During the Forum PAIH signed cooperation agreements with three Azerbaijani business institutions and three companies from the e-commerce and IT sectors.

The Polish-Azerbaijani Business Forum took place on 31 May 2019 in Baku.
