Groupe PSA will start production of large delivery vehicles in Gliwice

The owner of the Opel and Vauxhall brands Groupe PSA will start production of large delivery vehicles in Gliwice. The first cars will be ready in 2021. This is another investment project of a French corporation that has supported the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in the last months.

In Gliwice, Groupe PSA intends to produce large delivery vehicles in accordance with the latest conception of the group, called the Excellent Plant Program. As declared by the investor, the program means higher efficiency and higher levels of production automation, consequently lower energy consumption and better use of materials.

 - This good news for Gliwice is a proof that our model plant program - Excellent Plant Program, is implemented in all European locations using synergy and efficiency. Industrial performance will be a decisive factor in our ambition towards the delivery vehicle market, guaranteeing customers the best offer of all our brands in this segment - says Yann Vincent, vice president of production and supply chain in Groupe PSA.

Groupe PSA decided to increase its presence in Gliwice to take full advantage of the position and competitiveness of this location. The plant will be transformed to locate the production of light commercial vehicles and adapt it to a special platform for large vans. The transition of Opel / Vauxhall brands to shared platforms for large vans will require additional production capacity. The investment aims to ensure the plant's production capacity, enabling the production of up to 100,000 large delivery vans per year. The increase in production capacity in the segment of large delivery vans of the Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Vauxhall brands will allow the group to execute more orders at the end of 2021 and strengthen the position of the Gliwice location in the perspective of over ten years.
