Polish products have been popular on the Hungarian market for many years. Polish food and building products are particularly appreciated and recognized - Poland is associated with good quality of, which certainly makes it easier for us to introduce new Polish companies to this market - explains Marcin Karaskiewicz, head of the PAIH office in Budapest.
The prosperity of Polish products in Hungary is demonstrated by the high level of trade between Poland and Hungary. In 2018 it’s amounted to EUR 9,5 million, thanks to which Poland maintained the position of the third largest exporter on the Hungarian market (after Germany and Austria).
- Hungary is attractive to Polish exporters for several reasons. Firstly, due to the good perception of Polish products by Hungarian consumers, and secondly, due to the rising middle class in Hungary (salaries increase by 12% yoy on average). It is also an attractive place to run business due to low corporate tax ( 9%) and PIT (15%) - enumerates Marcin Karaskiewicz.
Favorable macroeconomic conditions, numerous incentives for investments and the lack of significant barriers to enter the Hungarian market effected in five Polish companies decided to expand to Hungary from the beginning of 2019. Among them are: Ana-med Sp. z o.o. (electric hospital beds, for which the contract amounts to 1,300,000 USD), PCC Consumer Products Kosmet Sp. z o.o (from the household chemistry sector), Z.P.H.U. Vangusto (producer of sweets) and MILÓ (exporter of granite sinks and fittings). The Hungarian debut of these companies was supported by the PAIH office in Budapest.
In addition, at the end of March we managed to sign a contract for the purchase of the Hungarian company CPM Hungary Kft, for nearly 150 bunk beds from the Polish manufacturer TM Furniture - says Marcin Karaskiewicz.
-Until now, our company's products were present only on the markets of Western Europe. However, we were looking for new directions of expansion and decided to expand our portfolio with the Hungarian market - says Iwo Dymnicki, representing TM Meble Sp. z o.o. - We used the services of PAIH trade office, whose quality of services was significantly above the standards we have met so far in cooperating with consulting companies.
The potential of cooperation between Poland and Hungary is also visible in the medical equipment sector. In Hungary, a program for the modernization and reconstruction of hospitals is currently being implemented, which is to be completed by 2024. As part of the program, almost 200 new operating rooms will be created. The existing facilities - mainly in the field of medical equipment and equipment - will be thoroughly modernized.
