Deputy Minister in charge of Poland’s EXPO 2020 arrangements

Tadeusz Kościński, the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology has been appointed the new Commissioner General of the Polish Section of the World Exhibition EXPO 2020 in Dubai (UAE). Thus, he has taken Polish Investment and Trade Agency’s former CEO, Tomasz Pisula’s place. However, PAIH is still responsible for organising Poland’s participation in the EXPO.

The first EXPO in the MEASA region will be held from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, and its organisers expect as many as 25 million guests. So far, 190 countries and organisations confirmed their participation, including Poland. In March 2018, Tomasz Pisula, CEO, PAIH was appointed Commissioner General of the Polish Section of the World Exhibition EXPO 2020. Therefore PAIH became responsible for whole arrangements related to the Poland’s participation in the event. Tomasz Pisula resigned in January, followingly Tadeusz Kościński, deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology took his place due to the Polish gov’t decision. However, PAIH is still responsible for organising Poland’s participation in the EXPO.

“The appointment of the Undersecretary of State for the de facto Ambassador of Poland to the EXPO 2020 means that the Polish government has given the event a much higher priority. The Middle East is still undiscovered land for Polish business. We are convinced that the Poland’ participation in the World Exhibition in Dubai will make the national companies recognise and embrace enormous potential of this region. I can assure you that the project is being carried out in accordance with the schedule and the programme concept” - Deputy Minister Kościński emphasises.

Poland treats its participation in EXPO in a multidimensional way. The national exhibition will be accompanied by an economic programme activating Polish entrepreneurs. The country’s participation in EXPO 2020 in Dubai, and in particular in the organisation of the National Day, will become the axis of political and diplomatic activities conducted in the region. Poland’s presence at the World Exhibition will also strengthen the programme of cultural and regional promotion.
