PAIH opens its Mexico City office

On Tuesday, April 25th, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency launched the Foreign Trade Office in Mexico. The office was officially opened by the president of Poland Andrzej Duda, deputy president of economic development Jerzy Kwieciński, Mexico's deputy minister of foreign trade Juan Carlos Baker Pineda as well as members of the PAIH Board: Krzysztof Senger and Wojciech Fedko.

The Trade Office in Mexico is the eighth foreign bureau of the Agency and the first one inaugurated by the Polish president. This demonstrates the importance of Mexico and of the Latin America for the strategy of development of Polish exports and investments programme.

“Mexico is a safe country open for business with a very absorbing market of about 120 million consumers. It makes the impression on the Europeans, especially on businessmen”, said Krzysztof Senger, executive vice president of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, who headed the Polish business mission to Mexico.

The opportunities for cooperation in Mexico are impressive. Therefore, the Polish Investment and Trade (PAIH) office in Mexico was launched as one of the first, at the very beginning of the implementation of a new policy aiming to support foreign expansion of Polish companies", said Krzysztof Senger, addressing his speech to the Polish entrepreneurs before they begun the B2B session with Mexican companies.

Starting from 25 April, both - the companies participating in the business mission as well as other Polish entrepreneurs interested in Mexico can count on the assistance of the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Mexico City. Located in the tallest building in Latin America, Torre Mayor, the office will provide information on the legal regulations on the Mexican market, search for potential business partners, organise business missions, meetings and workshops, as well as inform about the business opportunities in this market. The office will also support Polish business in developing a market strategy and receive financing for Polish projects. PAIH Trade Office will be also the first contact for Mexican companies interested in doing business in Poland.

“The task of the Foreign Trade Offices is to efficiently manage the bilateral exchange of economic information, thereby reducing the business risk for Polish companies”, said Wojciech Fedko, deputy president of PAIH, responsible for the development of the Trade Offices project in the Agency. As Fedko explains, PAIH trade office system has been designed to support Polish entrepreneurs from the SME sector in entering  new, rapidly growing markets as well as in implementing the programme of the internationalisation of Polish business. “We will work together with entrepreneurs on placing their Polish products and services on global markets. A strong emphasis will be put on Polish foreign  investments”, Fedko added.

The inauguration of the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Mexico took place on April 25, on the occasion of an official visit to Mexico of the president Andrzej Duda, accompanied by the business mission.

As part of the mission, PAIH also arranged the Mexican-Polish Economic Forum with the participation of president of Poland, Andrzej Duda and companies from both countries. During the visit, bilateral agreements were signed, including a declaration of mutual cooperation between the Minister of Economy of Mexico and the Minister of Development and Finance of the Republic of Poland.

“The document emphasizes that economic cooperation will be based on the development of direct contacts between entrepreneurs and local business organisations. I hope it will contribute to the growth of bilateral trade and investment”, said deputy minister of economic development Jerzy Kwieciński, who signed the declaration on behalf of  deputy prime minister and minister of economic development, Mateusz Morawiecki. “The High Level Task Force on Economic Affairs will be established. This new body will meet frequently in Mexico City and Warsaw”, Kwieciński announced.

“I am convinced that the agreement on economic cooperation that was signed today between Poland and Mexico will contribute to the increase of trade and investment between our countries. PAIH foreign trade office has the same task to do. Due to its location in the very business centre of the Mexico City, it will provide professional services for all entrepreneurs interested in entering the Mexican market”, said deputy minister Jerzy Kwieciński.
