Innovation in Polish automotive sector

Poland is considered as a European centre of automotive business. It is where almost all kinds of car’s compotes and car parts are produced. Innovation and the cooperation of local government, business and science in Polish automotive sector were discusses during the conference Automotive industry - innovation by coopeation. PAIiIZ was represented by deputy president Anna Polak-Kocińska.

During the meeting Silesia Automotive Cluster and the Klub 150  signed the cooperation agreement that is the first step towards establishing a an automotive cluster in Opole area. 

“Research, development and innovation - those are the strategic objectives of the new EU budget for 2014-2020 which focuses on supporting R&D policy in companies. They are also one of the key elements of a modern approach towards business and product management”, said the deputy president. Development of innovation in Polish automotive sector had let General Motors to expand its plant in Tychy to launch the production of innovative 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine there. The value of the project will reach even PLN 1.4m. New engine solutions, developed together by the German and Polish GM R&D teams have not been implemented anywhere else in the world yet.

Last week American company Tru Flex has started to build a exhaust systems factory in Opole area. Moreover, also an US-based Polaris Polska has recently celebrated an opening ceremony of quad and ATV vehicles in Opole area.

Automotive sector is one of the strategic sectors supported by PAIiIZ. There are 32 automotive ongoing projects worth €990.25m in the Agency’s portfolio. They all may let to the creation of over 8,000 new jobs.  (PAIiIZ)
