US delegation in the Ministry of Economy

This week, the official mission from the US led by Penny Pritzker - the US secretary of state of commerce for international trade is visiting Poland. The delegation consists of management of American companies gathered in President’s Export.

“There are only few global economies that are constantly developing and stable”, said Sławomir Majman meeting guest from America in the Ministry of Economy in Warsaw.
The US is one of the most attractive trade market in the world due to the country’s purchasing power, geographical diversity and political stability. Additionally, due to business climate and transparent legal system, the US is becoming increasingly attractive destination for foreign expansion of Polish companies. „By acting together, we can significantly increase the turnover between our countries”, argued Penny Pritzker during the meeting. She also added that she come to Poland to introduce President’s Export Council-PEC, an advisory body composed of the presidents of the largest global corporations from the US. “Its mission is to search for new markets and sectors with the biggest business potential for American companies”, explained secretary of State. Despite big potential to increase the bilateral trade between Poland and America, still the trade turnover between the countries is low. However, it’s improving year on year. According to the Ministry of Economy, in 2013 it exceeded $10bn and went up by 19.4% y/y. In contrast, export of Polish goods to the United States reached $ 4.8 bn and grew by 34.5% year on year. Americans are interested in importing unique, original and innovative products from Poland.

American investments dominate in PAIiIZ portfolio. The majority projects supported by the Agency are provided by US companies. Those are 53 FDI projects what are worth €967.4 in total and create 8,190 new jobs. “American Investors break records. It was the Americans that implemented the biggest investments in terms of jobs creations and value of a particular project”, commented Stanisław Majman.

During the meeting with secretary of state Penny Pritzker, Polish side was represented by deputy prime minister Janusz Piechiciński, deputy minister of economy llona Antoniszyn-Klik and PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman, while among American delegation there was under secretary of state Stefan Selig, who last Thursday participated in Polish - American Investment Dialogue arranged by PAIiIZ in NY.
